It�s time to make a premium-priced high-capacity iPod touch instead; maybe 256 for some hair-raising price! Yes, HDs are cheap, but you have to make the transition some time! It could even be thicker if necessary; after all, the Classic is already a separate hardware design to build. (I might have suggested a thicker, hard-disk-based Touch, but I think iOS uses the drive in ways that would bog down hideously on a spinning platter. Hmmm... maybe a hybrid drive?)

And to the "Facebook sucks" crowd: may be so, but there are a lot more Facebook users, than iPhone users. So it's still important.
And really, over the last few years, my otherwise beloved Apple has turned into the George W. Bush of PC companies. Look at their newly found moral stance, regarding applications. Or their strong-arm tactics. Or the picking of wars not likely to be in their own interest - like the ones with Google, and Adobe.
Or, the fact, that the truly religious (and uninformed), blindly follow, no matter where.

This is no longer true.
Music from iTunes has been DRM free since April 2009.
Don't you have to pay extra for that?? For the few things I have purchased on there it won't play unless it's on my account.

They definitely just need to have an update to 220 GBs that was previously discussed here. Idk what I'd do. The biggest iPod Touch is way too small and way more money.

I understand your point. I do, however, feel that Apple has more of the platform's long-term best interests at heart, versus the developers delay of a UI for 5 months.
If we're to assume the "Top Secret to prevent photocopying" theory, then these next 5 months are more crucial to Apple's development than the platform developers. Come January, Apple might spill all the details of the (currently speculative) Finder, and developers have from then until release date to incorporate it. Sure, it's a delay of 5 months, but think big-picture. If Apple's secretiveness prevents Vista from incorporating Leopard UI traits, it's worth the wait to make Leopard appear further ahead.*
*We all know this is a rumor site, but the above is purely speculation on my part.

I understand that Apple uses the photocopy thing as a joke, but in all reality, it isn't like Microsoft is stealing lines of code. The features that Apple has included are not necessarily original. They are just original as being "incorporated" in the OS.
Big picture, they should have spilled it all. The reaction to Leopard has already been rather blah. And so what if Microsoft steals one or two "top secret" features.
Time Machine - nothing new conceptually, just graphically improved
Spaces - A blatant rip of "Virtue" for OS X
Mail Improvements - I already have plugins that do most of that
iChat - About 1000 people have already pointed out a been there, done that for iChat

I like what they are doing with the stuff, but right now they need to save their *** and give away some "secret" features before people stop caring.

Hm. My older PB didn't fall into the 2005 recall, I wonder if it would fall under this current recall.
My iBook's battery does though. Sigh. Guess I'lll try to fill out that online form...

That thread Spook posted is hilarious! Man we're so many people 100% wrong with their opinions... the iPod owns the world now! I wasn't a fan of Apple back when the iPod was introduced, so I didn't have any expectations. I didn't even know it was coming. But now I sit here with both my 3G 30GB and 5G 60GB iPods on my desk. :D

It makes sense for Apple to start selling the iPhone in September instead of June. The iPad updates around March, so 6 months later is September. They probably did that to ease the manufacturing and push more of that given product at that time of year.

I can't play more than 1 song before it crashes. I went ahead and appzapped the friggin program and started with a totally fresh install and I'm having the same problem. It plays 1 song and then crashes.
Another thing I noticed is that it misreports song length by a few seconds. It's reporting them too short. It plays out until the end and then backs up a second or two, then crashes.
Anyone else?

Don't underestimate the attraction of making this work for the phone companies - Patching the iOS today requires a series of user actions often deemed tedious by the masses that don't read forums like this. My wife for example. She uses her iPhone solely as a phone and thus it doesn't get connected to iTunes unless I take the time to do it. This frustrates ATT/VZW as they want to close 'security' holes or turn on/off features at their discretion, not ours.

That's like saying that Microsoft should make windows work better with iTunes... kinda backwards.
Given that Safari is the fastest browser out there, I think Apple has done their part. Adobe needs to step up, and optimize flash for osx.

At least the option for a dedicated GPU would be awesome, and since the MBP's would have faster CPUs and significantly faster GPUs I don't see how it would make that much of a difference... Light gaming is NOT "Pro" usage, no matter what Apple would try to tell us.
