There's been a debate for years over the differences in users between Mac & PC. One postulation is that Mac people are more savvy and personable, and will do something like walk over to a girl and offer up an ear bud, while the PC person would be too socially awkward to do that. Hence the difference in Jobs' idea of "sharing" vs. Bill Gates' version. One is social, the other mechanical.
Whether it's a true stereotype is up for grabs, but I can't help thinking that Billy hates Steve for being the "cool kid" even after becoming the richest person in the world.
Haha, that's the best part. And it's so true! Walk your ass over to that girl and sit next to her and share your music with her. Screw this "beaming it over" nonsense.

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.
As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others. Although we don't need religion to teach people morals, we need some agreed upon code of conduct.
You might say that the laws of a country serve that purpose, but they don't. They are simply rules everyone must follow and any despotic ruler can set awful laws that can hurt people. Therefore, the code of conduct has to be separate from the law.
If atheism has any future, its needs some type of unified, agreed upon code.
Oh please. I find nothing positive about scaring children with a bunch of lies to get them to behave.

I'm on the waiting list at my Radio Shack and the two guys ahead of me didn't have to buy an accessory with their iPad. Might be a store by store thing.

Apologies.
When you said "the" president I thought you mean the co-opted, sorry-excuse-for-a-change-agent we currently have in the White House.

I hope not, I want a glowing Apple on my MBP when I get mine next week.

I keep seeing posters state that the rep of Apple will be hurt (some say long term, others say short term) and I still have not actually seen a reason for this
Of course, I agree that Radioshack is a bit of a low-type choice for Apple but at the end of the day, why exactly would ANYONE look at Apple even slightly more different?
I mean, if BestBuy and others are selling and the rep has not taken a hit, I find it hard to believe that Apple is somehow in danger rep-wise with Radioshack.

It's true that a high megapixel count is not anything like the most important factor about a camera, but everything else being equal more megapixels is better than fewer megapixels. I seriously doubt Apple is going to add megapixels just for the number on the specs list.
I think the point is that the technical specs of a photo, and the camera it was taken on, can't make a badly lit, poorly composed photo a good one, and (within reason) can't totally destroy the work of a good photographer who knows what they are doing but only had access to a 'lesser' camera.
Another way of looking at it might be that Leonardo da Vinci could do more impressive work with a pencil and paper than many people could do with a studio full of photoshop artists.
Fair enough.
I think that was common sense and wasn't worth mentioning in any context.

Sadly, Vegas will cost you more for a week than SF (if you want to do it "right").

Has anyone considered that apple might not be realeasing the wide screen super secret video ipod because it dosn't exist?
lets all think for a second...
1) touch screens are weak, soft, and matte, not iPod at all
2) they get printy and scratched very easily
3) they would go through oodles of batter power
4) Apple would not make the thing bigger just to hold the extra battery
5) battery life would STINK
6) touch screen starts to complicate the interface, goes against apple's easy as pie rule
7) the thing would have to cost a fortune
please dont kill me, but does anyone have proof, or is it just a dream of perfection?
p.s. does anyone know if they will webcast the event?
hmmm
1) No
2) No
3) No, see pda phones, which go for 2-3 days. iPod, with a harddisk, could go for 5+ hours.
4)Yep, right.
5) No, it would not.
6) No, touch screen has nothing to do with the UI
7) No again, touch screens are not too expensive. Just see the current touch screen devices on the market today
It is more than possible that Apple would release a touch screen device. Hmm, Apple once even had one =), called Newton.

I was talking about a new one not a refurbished one. I want to buy the core duo macbook after the c2d ones are released because i do not need the uprgrades and i could get a good deal. The core duo macbook pros dropped $300 so i was wondering how much the macbooks would drop.
I was talking about the new ones aswell  the refurb shop also sells stock they want to get rid of and that includes old macbooks.

Yes, you are right, but the story itself, in the little I've seen of it is just more of the same, but I have not given up. I'm hoping to get back into it this weekend. :)
Keep with it. The campaign is quite good, in my opinion. Oh, and also, make sure you stay through the credits. ;)
I am still working my way through the single player on legendary but once I am done I'll check out the firefight mode. I really liked a similar mode in Gears of War so I could see myself getting into that.
At its core, it is very similar to Horde mode from GoW2. You fight against waves and waves of Covenant, scoring points along the way. It was a little rough around the edges when they first did it in ODST, but now for Reach it is pretty awesome. You can do Matchmaking for it, if you want. Or you can set it up, and play custom versions. You can also play it in Versus mode, where it is 2v2; one team of 2 are Spartans, the other 2 are Elites. Spartans are trying to score points, Elites are trying to stop them. When the round is over, or the Spartans are out of lives, you switch sides, and see which team can end up with the most points in the end. It is a blast.
There is also a mode that Bungie created called "Gruntpocalypse" where it is nothing but waves and waves of Grunts, with the "Grunt Birthday Party" skull turned on. It sounds very basic, but killing hundreds of Grunts, the confetti popping out of their heads, and hearing the kids cheer YAAAAYY every time you headshot them just never gets old. :D

You apparently didn't notice, but I did not even mention a $399 retail price, let alone "spout off" about it.Sure you did. Go back and read your response to the portion of my post that you quoted.
You directly/exclusively quoted...People need to stop with the "OMG windows is $400" talk. It's just silly.and responded / spouted off with...It doesn't seem silly to me at all.Your direct quote and response to that portion of my post certainly is a mention of the $399 retail price. You directly refered to the $399 retail price and commented on it.
Refering to the $399 retail price of Vista Ultimate when we were obviously discussing "upgrading" from XP to Vista is either ignorant or disingenuous. I'll let you decide which of the two best describes you.
Have fun with that

oops... your right I'd missed the ITU's back flip.
So I guess 4G means whatever, or nothing....
I guess the real 4G will be 6 or 7G but the time the marketing departments get their way.

I'm not blindly supporting Apple, I'm very well informed in many facets of harware and OS decision making. Based on that, I've chosen to promote Apple to my small and mid-size business clients. I have crates of research and papers I've read to come to this conclusion.

Good point. You win. However, I just went back and re-read this whole thread, and while I have made one insult (sorry), you've made a rash of them.
"No, but you suggested that we should rally around some cause (design chips, boycott Apple, etc.) and vocalize. "
Where did i say we should design chips or boycott Apple? Now you're just liying and it's no wonder you have come to your conclusions, considering you fabricate things like this.

And don't have a single 12/13in model in existence? I don't think so.
Some people want small form factors. It's a shame Apple thinks form factors and power are in a 1-to-1 relationship. Some people want powerful laptops with smaller displays (12in PB is no more) or less powerful laptops with larger displays (15in iBook is no more). Hopefully Apple learns to stop limiting themselves in this way. Think differently differently.
Exactly what I have been demanding, too...not tiny crap with 9" or 10" displays like those from Sony or others...I just want a new 12" MB or MBP...15" or 17" are too much to carry around for those that don't need all the bells and whistles...my wish:
MB or MBP Core 2 Duo 12"
1Gb RAM
120Gb HD
Backlit Keyboard (if technology allows)
128Mb discreet GPU
Optical drive (no need for DL)
iSight
Is that really so hard?

Precisely, except maybe not 2.16 GHz
I'm thinking 2GHz and 2.16GHz. That way it's an upgrade from the current versions, but competition with the Macbook Pro is minimized.

No one is making you pay for CS 5.5. Just wait and buy CS6, CS7, etc as you normally would have.
That isn't the issue mate, the issue is that Lion is around the corner and I'll bet my bottom dollar Adobe will damn well use their launch of 5.5 to justify dropping support for CS5 when it comes to Lion. So what does one do - hold back on Lion so one can keep with CS5 or upgrade to CS5.5 just to get Lion support? don't think it isn't going to happen - look at CS4 and the fact it took MONTHS for Adobe to finally fix the data corruption bug in Fireworks where it would crash on exit when running on Snow Leopard.
Sorry, I want to move to Lion as soon as it is released because there are some friggin awesome features that I really like but there are scum sucking a-holes like Adobe who will use it as yet ANOTHER reason to milk their customers.
Adobe keep whining about Apple and how they keep getting 'screwed over' and yet when are we going to see Adobe stop screwing over its customers, both Windows and Mac OS X, using the ever so slightest system change to justify charging an upgrade when what they should be doing is issuing updates and supporting their products for up to 5 years like Microsoft does (Adobe is a big enough company to carry that cost).

I don't know what people are fussing about. If these price points are true, Windows Vista is pretty cheap.
Remember, if you buy Vista, it'll most likely last at least 4-5 years before the next paid upgrade, unlike with OS X where if you want the latest and greatest, you're looking at an upgrade almost every year.
Vista looks to be a big jump from WinXP too, and seems a lot more mac-like. Complain all you want, but more competition puts Cupertino into a sweat and drives Apple into innovating even more. Support for Direct X 10 is going to be felt in about 1-2 years when people start getting DX10 graphics cards and more games take advantage of it.

hmmm..... may pick up one of the large ones.
wanna play with one at an apple store first though. also see if i can upgrade the graphics card. or see if the one included is good enough for photography and gaming.
There is a 256MB option.
