I was experiencing the same problems as others after installing DP3.
That is, installation seemed ok, UNTIL it got to to "moving items into place" after which it hung.
I forced a restart, and ended up with the grey screen and spinning gear.
I followed insomniac321123's suggestion:
- rebooted to Snow Leopard
- opened the root Library folder
- opened the Updates folder and located the "lionswupdate.pkg"
Note: it was located in a folder named "041-0870"
The pathway is (root)/Library/Updates/041-0870/lionswupdate.pkg
- double-clicked that, re-ran the installer app.
- this time, when it got to the "moving items into place" segment, the task finished (in relatively short time) and I received "the installation was successful".
After this, I was able to restart and get a "good boot" to 10.7 build 11A444d.
Other observations:
When I _shut down_ Lion the first time after the update, it seemed to take extra time, with quite a bit of disk activity. I'm going to _guess_ that the problem may be due to files that normally get written at shutdown to be read at the next boot. These would normally be read and pre-loaded before the finder loaded, but could not be, hence the spinning wheel that prevented the finder from loading.
After I finally got a good boot after running the procedure above, and Lion corrected whatever it needed to correct at shutdown, subsequent shutdowns are "normal" again.
This was my experience exactly. I've been out of town, so I haven't been able to post very well.
Thats one of the big perks of having a second, more stable partition. Besides having another OS to fall back on, you still have access to the disk of the problematic OS.

So what would be the difference between an iphone 4gs and an iphone 5?
iPhone 4GS would look exactly the same (maybe slight adjustment), and slightly bigger memory (possibly 8GB version phased out and replaced with 16gb) + the white edition.
I would expect the iPhone 5 to be quite a bigger adjustment/re-design.

Funny in the beginning but it got old. With advertising you don't want to keep replaying the same old same old. People start tuning out.
They were good, but it was time to discontinue them.

I've got two 20" widescreens attached to my Power Mac at home, and I like dual screens a lot more than I thought I would. I went dual screen originally because it was the cheapest way to get the most screen space. Like a lot of people, it seems, I ended up using one screen to house all the applications I want open all the time (Adium, iTunes, pearLyrics, Mail, Finder window), and have the entire other screen for working on whatever it is I'm working on. I like having the dedicated "space" for all that stuff.
I've watched a movie on my Power Mac just once, but I also liked that I could have one whole screen dedicated to the movie, and still have another separate space for surfing the web or playing solitare or whatever else I wanted to do.
The bezel on the screens doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would and the screens just seem to kind of bleed together.
If I had to choose between two 20"s and one 24", I'd likely go with the two 20"s, especially if it were cheaper. What he said..
Or, you could always just say screw it and get dual 23" screens. :)

i know a couple of Page 3 models :) very nice girls actually. this whole image the media gives them is stupid, but hey it sells.
aw i would have put regional dialects in number 1. so funny! my girlfriends living with these 2 girls at her uni, they're from the south. so mad! its not "spider" its "spoydah" and "funny" becomes well, dare i say, "fanny".
then again im not much to talk... i call those things you walk up "sturs". oh i love being northern.
meh. i love accents. especially in the UK where they change if you walk for a mile or 2. here we have the Oldham accent. just 2 miles over Lees Road and you get the Saddleworthian accent. the other way you get the rochdale accent... hell even villages in towns have their own accent! ill shuttup now. i just love accents XD

So...can anyone tell me why with Airplay iPhone gaming cannot stream to the AppleTV?
Imagine it right. Tapping on the iPhone screen with on screen controls but the TV showing the actual game being played.
rumored to be coming, but it a long way away

There's probably a really simple solution but I can't figure it out.
I'm setting up a website for some friends who are starting a web comic. The comics will be SWF files. It's all well and good that people can view them on the website but we'd like people to be able to click a link and download the file.
I haven't done anything like this before and the only thing my google searches seem to be coming back with is
Download MyFile.swf
Which just opens up the file in the browser.
Anyone know the solution to this?

Hello everyone!
Well, just received my G5 Quad yesterday! I have a couple of issues with it, and thank God the cooling system is fully functional. The original owner told me that he replaced the power supply, as the serial number fell in line with some of the Quad models needing replacement power supplies.
Good news for me: The seller took care of this a while back. Now, here is something really weird. I am not getting the Yellow trickle light to come on when I remove the air deflector shield. I wonder if this has to do with the new power supply Apple put in this thing? I tried a SMU reset and PRAM reset to no avail. Apple Service Diagnostic and Apple Hardware Test report everything normal and running normal with regards to my logic board, and processors.
I even re-calibrated the processors just to ease my concern of coolant leaks; the calibration test passed with flying colors - the Processors are fine and working normally. My current temps for the CPUs are as follows:
CPU A Core 1 Diode: 120.4F
CPU A Core 2 Diode: 120.0F
CPU B Core 1 Diode: 125.9F
CPU B Core 2 Diode: 124.8F
I assume all this is normal..
Next issue has to do with noise. I think I have isolated the main noise coming from the Nvidia 7800 GT - I was told this is an extremely LOUD video card. I am pending an order for the 6600 256MB version which has just a black heatsink and no fan.
Other than those problems above, the machine is running just fine.. I am just concerned as to why the Yellow Trickle LED isn't lighting up or coming on when I remove the air deflector shield. The only time the RED Stop light came up was when I was trying to boot up Apple Service Diagnostic OS Version.. I forget the page, but in the service manual, it states that Quad G5 is NOT compatible with 2.6.3 Operating system version of the Apple Service Diagnostic, where as Open Firmware is.
Again, no other problems recorded.. Although, it came with 8GB of memory, I found two sticks to be bad and as a result my Quad now has 6GB as was stated on the invoice when I bought this from the seller.
I hope someone can help or shed some light on why the Yellow Light is not coming on. Not that it doesn't bother me, its just not normal behavior.
Thank you.
Josh.
Oh, I am pleased to mention to that my liquid cooling system is a Panasonic model and not Delphi(2 big black blocks in case no one remembered what it looked like).

Wunderlist is nice, fairly basic in appearance, but clean. One aspect that it does not have, or I cannot find, it a way to set a reminder, alert or alarm for an action item. I don't do this for a lot of things, but it is VERY helpful at times. I wanted a new chair for my desk and storables had their great bungie chair on sale. I wanted to set an alert to the last day of the sale as I knew I had a lot of things going on at work and home and could easily forget. The last day, an alarm went off to remind me and I was glad as I had gotten a call and pulled my mind away. I made it to the store before it closed to grab a chair and I would NOT have remembered it my app had not alerted me.
If anyone knows if wunderlist has this feature, I'd be happy to find out how/where it is.
Thanks.

Well, like i said...I just shipped mine out today after to good run on eBay. I know the next one I have will be equally if not far more impressive, and now I'm debt free until that day comes because I sold mine. Mine is an individual circumstance of course.

I have a 12" Powerbook that had a similar wifi problem.
It ended up being a bad connector going into the airport card. It had gotten loose and the connection quality was pretty poor.
The connector itself wouldn't stay tight in the card, so I replaced the end with a new connector that solved the issues.
Good luck.

X850XT.
With the ATI card, you'll be able to tweak settings with the ATI Display control panel. The oversize 6800GT blocks one of your PCI slots too - X850XT does not.

That jornalist is an idiot. See the Apple logo on the back of all those 'phones'? That's not Apple's logo! That's Applele's logo, and MANY renderings have come out of that website for YEARS, all bearing that logo. It's just his expression of what he think would look cool on the Apple product line. This is in no way real!
Good day!

I am looking for a keyboard for my Mac mini as well. I only wish that Apple's current keyboard had a power button on it. Are there any nice keyboards that have a power button on them? I only seen like 3, the old Apple ones, a slim one from Kensington, and some ugly black one. Is there one that I do not know about? Thanks.
This one from Adesso is the one I am currently using

works great on panther, you just have to download the latest drivers. It has a power button and everything. it is an ergo keyboard though.
