Hello,
This is mainly towards the staff at MacRumors, probably more at arn.
Does MacRumors have any immediate or far plans to move to the newer (a bit chaotic) vBulletin 4 platform, given that 3.x and 3.8.x are on their last legs? If not, what does MacRumors plan on doing? XenForo might be able to help.
PS, keep up the awesome management of servers and systems. I really appreciate it, given myself being a service provider in the field.

I'm looking for an USB hub or two and a external Blu Ray reader(don't need a burner). I could go for an external enclosure and just take my bluray reader out of my PC and use it in that. But either will work.
Between an imac and the hubs I need a total of 10 USB ports. Would be nice if they were powered so I can charge the ipad.
Any good suggestions?
as far as usb ports are concerned i got a little white belkin from like ebay if i remember right and it has about 7 usb ports plus i use my 2 20" cinema displays because they both have 2 i believe?
look on new egg for an external case, or post in the market place!
good luck

The MS isn't bad now, I saw a 4GB Duo for $69.99 and 2GB ones are always under $75. I have a 1GB one and it has enough room for 3 south park episodes, a movie, and some MP3's.
Come on now ;)
It's hard to get an actual price for a 4gb Memory Stick duo. They range from 20 to 140. Have to just use Aria, since they stock original goods (ie. not eBay)
2gb Memory Stick Duo- 45
2gb SD- 13

Hmm, didn't realize that it was THAT huge... For a better view drag it to your desktop and open in Preview.
It was the first idea that came to my mind. Didn't want to go the "arrogant" way and tell everyone why Macs are better. Instead I chose to tell them Apple's computers are just as good as theirs, so why don't they try it for themselves.
Title may be "Just as good".

I'm of two minds, which I don't think are really all that incompatible.
The cynical pragmatist side says, "hope in one hand and crap in the other, and see which piles up first." Hoping things work out is no substitute for doing something, anything, to make them work out. I grew up around people who took "hope" to suggest they should just let everything go and trust "God" to make their lives work out as "He" sees fit, and that passive attitude disgusts me.
On the other hand, hope is the counterpoint to despair and resignation that the worst will happen despite what we do. Hope can encourage us to take positive action when we would otherwise be discouraged into complacency by the perceived likelihood of failure. I have seen too many people with negative attitudes who have an almost uncanny tendency to get exactly what they expect out of life. Depressive fatalism likewise disgusts me.
The common thread, of course, is that hope is valuable to exactly the extent it gets you off your ass and into the game. Whatever encourages that is a virtue; whatever discourages it a vice.
As for my own sources and objects of hope, that's a bit too personal for PRSI.

21.5" iMac (early 2010)
13" Air (late 2010)
I am waiting for the iMac refresh to pick up one for the family room. I'll take the newer more powerful one. ;). Can't wait to get the wife and kid off windows. :D

bobnugget ===> Thanks for your reply, yes I new using OSX, but I have my Windowze machine besides my Mac BookPro; before turning off the power switch or button I did a search in Google and found that procedure (cmd-option-esc) but nothing... no response, freeze.. didn't have a feedback of the machine (remembered my Windows 95 or 98).
I had to use the last resource as the research suggested me. Turn the power button down, wait a few seconds and restart the machine.

Or did they ever make them with the newer built in battery? Also, were the 2.0 and 2.4 ghz models the same release? How big of a difference are the two in processing power? Thanks : )

What about using a gigabit connected NAS instead? Faster even than FW800, and you can now put it anywhere in your house, instead of having to have it in the same room.

That's not the worst of it, my parents bought a small TV and it's not _stickers_, the damn logos are actually EMBOSSED and can't be removed...

I was just like you, I need a scroll wheel and two buttons. The MacMice are great. I have one of them and love it.
As far as keyboards go, I have an iBook so I don't have a keyboard but I've used the Apple keyboard many times on friend's Macs and it seems fine to me.
Just don't get The Mouse BT. Its terrible. I got it for christmas and took it back a few weeks ago. Theres a whole thread here on MacRumors with people bitching about it. Do a search and you'll find it.
Although, I've never used it, I haven't heard anything too bad about their USB mouse. So I'd go with that.

My dad still regularly uses a network of 3 Quadras 900s and a couple of eMacs (for printing). He's burnt through 4 or 5 Blueberries and a couple of eMacs, but those Quadras have been running since new. All backed up daily on 100 meg SCSI zip disks and a couple of SCSI 40 meg drives (the kind that had the form factor of the Mac Classic, so you could stack em).
Don't think those guys have been shut off in almost 20 years.
He really needs to upgrade as his business would be SOL if even something simple as a PSU failed. The "upgrade" path I've been pushing lately is to just buy a bargain bin PC, stick Windows XP on it and run on his Quadras in Basilisk 2 windows. He probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference, and he could back up everything in the matter of minutes on a flash drive instead of hours to zip disks.

Schools are a bureaucracy of inefficiencies. Especially public schools.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of problem kids (and parents too unfortunately) who also help make it that way.

See, when I started watching twit a long time ago, Leo was the poster-boy Machead. He would get into arguments with hosts (Thurrot) defending Apple products even when he was wrong. Now that twit has many more shows and a more varied audience, I feel he HAD to tone it down just so he would not alienate his viewers.
You have been watching longer than I have, so you know more than me. I think it makes sense.

I think I will be going with one of the logitech cordless notebook mice and the mac bluetooth keyboard.
These logitech mice have OSX drivers which a lot of the higher end Logitech mice do not. Plus a mini mouse with a mini mac sounds about right ;)

Exactly! I'm hoping that a CRT HDTV will help mask the problems. But I think for obvious MPEG artifacts it's Sky HD who takes the biscuit.
Some of the best looking Blu-rays use MPEG2. it's not really about the codec as much as the masters.
