Although they did give all the developers who 'rented' the 'Intel Development Kit' from WWDC '05 a Intel iMac when they were released in January. ;)

Do you know what a computer without drivers is? A paperweight. The OS is not a single monolithic thing; it's made up of many components. The notion of what is "written into the OS" is more complicated than you seem to think, and it's childish to dismiss a vulnerability because it's in a driver.
Well... but at least it's not Apple's fault, because they didn't produce the driver. Therefore it's actually not a concern of Apple's but of the driver's producer's.
On the other hand Apple did include it into it's OS seemingly without testing it thorougly, and that is, of course, a concern of Apple's. So they will have to work together to get rid of that - and I'm sure they will - and I may be smug again. :p

I was so wanting an upgraded Mini when Apple introduced the Nano. I disliked the new form and materials. But the new Nano is everything I wished for. Well almost. Why did they give us only black for the 8gig? This is the premium model. I want silver damn it!!! But otherwise full marks from me. Just placed my order for a Shuffle......awesome job Apple. One of the best introduction days I can remember. The new iTV is the icing on the cake. Bravo:D

I don't play Halo multiplayer for a couple of reason. The main one being that i suck at it. But the other reason is the wait time to get into a game and then out of it to get into another. I dont have that problem with Modern Warefare 2 so I am just wondering if its me and my crappy connection or what?

yeah, using a third-party card AND driver software. stuff that 99.9% of macbook owners would never use anyway...if their goal was to show THAT a macbook could be hacked, they did show it. but they did not show that a macbook being used in a normal way using macbook drivers and hardware can be hacked. pretty piss-poor, IMO.

That thread Spook posted is hilarious! Man we're so many people 100% wrong with their opinions... the iPod owns the world now! I wasn't a fan of Apple back when the iPod was introduced, so I didn't have any expectations. I didn't even know it was coming. But now I sit here with both my 3G 30GB and 5G 60GB iPods on my desk. :D

Apple has always maintained a 30% profit margin
Therefore the tax has ALWAYS been about 25%.
Well, if you are not getting hardware with that money what are you getting?

i am sure that there will be NO new iphone 5 at the conference. but apple needs to show something new there, so as a "one more thing" they will introduce the new white iphone 4, and also another new model with 64 GB. There is a lot of work going on that could see the light of day by or at the WWDC such as new MobileMe especially considering Amazon's announcement today re streaming media. Throw in maybe something to do with Apple TV or a preview of new iPhone 5 capabilities such as NFC and it would be a pretty amazing meeting. An announcement of integrated iOS and OSX could be a blockbuster by itself if that comes to be.

This might be silly, but there is nothing particularly 'Apple' about that sign. Other than the beautiful white typeface against black canvas, of course. As people have pointed out, it isn't Myriad set. Why would Apple change their font for one banner? Do they do this regularly?
Isn't it possible that this sign belongs to another company showcasing software etc at Macworld? Doesn't Apple normally have some sort of branding on their banners?

I'm not fooling anyone. I live in California. I know what its like to be price gouged for everything cost of living wise. I am very lucky to be able to afford the lifestyle. I would have no problem paying a 10-15% premium for a product made here, that is supported here, and helps develop my community.
10-15% is not going to happen. There would be an uproar. However I am willing to bet the margin will be reduced by at least 15% which would be catastrophic as a profit driven company. Apple is doing what's best for it's share holders (some of which are in your community).

FWIW, the one Toys R Us I checked with apparently had an initial delivery of TEN on Sunday, all of course gone within an hour. Now back to the digression of this thread.....

The iPhone 4's 5 mp camera has superior quality against its competitors 8mp. The reason being is that the quality of the lens that is in the iPhone is higher than the opposing. I hope to see crystal clear hdr photos and 1080p 30fps video. 1080p on the next iPad would rock!

you also got to look at people that don't have new or fast computers (i currently fall in this category) and people that don't have a fast internet connection (like people that live to far out of town where they cant get high-speed ) or people that like to have a original copy AKA a dvd to take to another house to watch. that is the people that is buying audio cd's and dvd movies from wally world. so even tho if apple got every studio for ITMS it would not affect those buyers then would it.
wally world needs to see the point, that they are going to be the retail store version of M$

Did you stop to think for just a second that Apple is not showing the new Finder yet, and that the Finder included with Leopard right now is the Tiger one?

I have the same speculation that Apple will overhaul the Finder; however, it would have been nice to have an updated GUI (with no brushed metal) simply for consistency in the preview.
...part of that speculation is hope. Windows Vista's Explorer is nice. It is so easy to navigate folders, and it looks amazing. I really hope the Finder gets a past due overhaul.

Calling Apple a hardware company is like calling McDonalds a hamburger stand.

Incidentally, Apple dealers aren't selling Macs with XP "pre-installed," they are doing it as an after-market add-on. To pre-install, they'd have to be Microsoft OEMs. I don't think we want Apple to become one of those.
