iMac and iPod updates sound pretty reasonable, personally I think we will have to see something released next week. I also think we wil see the end of Solo processors in the Mac Mini line by October at the latest.
Just got my tax return and a new iPod and iMac would be nice

This is my set up while on rotations in hospitals. Very handy as a mobile office!
Still on the fence about getting the 11.6" mba. While small, I think multitasking will be a nightmare on it. So cute though!
LOVE IT. What is that case?

Guys... has it occurred to anybody that the ichat phone is the biggest joke???
Why on earth would the iSight be on the back?? So when you talk to someone you can't see them?and the microphone is on the front???? WTF?
M
That's why nobody is talking about it. Because it's so obviously fake. (The ad was at least slightly believable. The video is horrible.)

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.
Corporations have many more factors to consider prior to updating than the general consumer. Price is only one of the many factors. In many cases the sticker price of the OS itself is the least restrictive factor when considering upgrading for a corporation.

The Beatles: Four guys who needed each other, because individually they were musical infants.
No, thanks.
I'm not going to pretend to be a huge fan, or even a fan. They were before my time, but I think that's a bit of a reach.
I mean, Imagine...not exactly a nursery rhyme.

1. Big :apple:TV upgrade with bigger avaiable HD, 1080p output and PVR functionality, along with iTunes movie rentals.
2. iPhone 2.0 with up to 32 GB flash and the first wave of official 3rd party apps (those developers that were seeded with the SDK early). 3G data is also a longshot.
3. One more thing: MacBook Lite. Flash-based HD, external optical drive, low-power Penryn CPU, Intel integrated graphics, 10 hr battery life. In an aluminum case with multitouch interface. Apple's "best portable computer ever".

Now the question is when will the line start forming for the keynote this year?
Last year a few people were already standing in line the night before(I think around 9pm). My guess is if Steve is going to be part of the keynote this year people will be there even earlier.

Thanks for your diligent research efforts
... It is often believed that wars and military spending increases are good for the economy. In fact, most economic models show that military spending diverts resources from productive uses, such as consumption and investment, and ultimately slows economic growth and reduces employment. That reads rather oddly. Consumption is a productive use? Does a degree in economic analysis require a credit in mendacious obfuscation?
... In a recent paper that I co-authored with Robert Pollin, we show that dollar per dollar, more jobs are created through spending on clean energy, health care, and education than on the military. Further, we show that more middle-income and well-paying jobs are created in all of these areas...Here we encounter another small problem, arising from the efforts on the part of various Koch fiends to marginalize the income and advantages of public employment. With collective bargaining and public unions defanged and declawed, it is doubtful that non-military-related income from government spending will be able to maintain its edge, perhaps not even keep up.

Unfortunately, you can't buy the games separately for the equivalent of 5 bucks each like you can in the US, you have to buy all nine as a bundle for 36 quid!

If you click on the game you want, then you can download it, for 3.99

The name "iPhone 4G" adds a letter, it doesn't remove one. It allows a 4G phone to be marketed as such, just as they did with the 3G.
I don't care what they call it, just build one that can make calls without blaming the carrier for Apples sloppy work.
Funny how not long ago there was a poll and most who responded voted to keep the tiny 3.5" display. Now that the fanboys god has considered a 4.0" suddenly the push-back went away. So hypocritical, fanboys wait for their god to tell them what's good for them.

...So it looks like the forthcoming Mac Pro's will have the same form factor as the previous Power Mac G5. Can't say that I'm against that decision - but I was secretly hoping for a new look. My Rev A Power Mac Dual 2Ghz is still doing just fine under my desk. In fact, it's gonna take something pretty crazy to get me to pull out the credit card for a new box. Nothing's got me that excited yet

... I think it's safe to assume the 'Mac Pro' is not getting a case redesign. It says 64 bit on the poster -- that is new, so we can assume everything else on the poster is up to date.

But backups and updates are critical for such a device. That is my whole point... Are you arguing that it does not need ota syncing or just arguing? Obviously its serviceable without tethering, but you do need to sync it to a computer for it to work. Thats like if I had to plug my scooter into my car just to get it going. It makes it a luxury and not a necessity.
OMG, stop with car analogies. Cars are not analogous to computers.
Your computer can't backup by itself, either. You need backup software and hardware to do so. Backing up to the same drive is possible, but stupid. And before you say that SL and Win7 include backup software, the last few years is the first time any PC ever did. I guess all those PCs from 1975 until Time Machine came out weren't actually computers, either.
My kids' graphing calculator is a computer. Get over your semantics.

it seems that there is no longer an option for the "matte" screen, only the glossy one.
That option NEVER existed for MacBooks, only for MacBook Pros.

Your statement makes no since. Windows is a hardware dependent OS. If you have the hardware it will run. Buying a 400 dollar Hp is different then running it on a 800 ASUS. You are use to using low grade windows computers. I use Both macs and Highgrade windows based PCs (ASUS & Sony) I see no issues with any of them. Some one game me an HP and it was a piece of ****. I am using an ASUS board right now and I am in LOVE with it.
1. My statement made perfect sense. Apple builds excellent hardware that competes very well with other expensive hardware, the build quality is better than what anyone else produces, and Apple's Macintosh computers often have unique design that you cannot find elsewhere. Anybody who needs to run Windows and is willing to pay for top quality hardware is well advised to consider buying a Macintosh.
2. You are in LOVE with an ASUS board? I'm in love with my wife. If my MacBook was stolen or damaged I wouldn't shed one tear; I would just wait for the insurance money and buy a new one. You seem to have a strange irrational emotional attachment here.

Yeah the benefit for C2D is the bigger cache size mostly. That's only available on 2GHz and up AFAIK.
I'd still rather have the new potentially bug fixed hardware though.
...and 64 bit, and better SIMD processing etc. Recent MacWorld benchmarks show the same clockspeed C2D 28% faster than the CD in iTunes encoding. That sold it to me.

So when are these Merom MBPs coming out? I really don't care too much for an iTunes Movie Store. Some of us have been waiting since January.

(where albums mostly play the same GD thing out of both channels)
They SOUND like they play the same thing, I can assure you they don't. Take one of those songs and listen to it in Mono and you'll be able to tell the difference most of the time.

Love the white iMac! I personally prefer the design wayy much more than the newer aluminum iMacs, even though the white models are slow as $%!& compared to the offerings of today.
Ooh, brainwave! I wonder if it's possible to transplant the guts of an aluminum iMac into a white iMac? I don't know how the screen interface differs between models, so it may require replacing the LCD, but it would make a fun project.
I've got a 20" iMac G5 here with 5 blown capacitors on the logic board and another four in the power supply. If I can't fix them, I may try that transplanting project.

Retail stores are free to do what they want as long as they don't advertise under the Apple MSRP. Don't like it? Don't buy....
Apple also doesn't have to sell their products in every store. I am sure Apple could say that they couldn't do that if they want to continue selling the iPad 2. I'd be very surprised if Apple knew about this and allowed it.
My guess is that since managers are pressuring the sales staff to sell the add-ons so hard, that they are just saying its required.

You guys are missing the point.
Obviously the '64-bit' refers to the fact that the new Apple machines are going to have a slot to plug in Nintendo 64 cartridges...
I thought that was a little obvious at this point but I guess I was wrong.
