Haha, a pre order event? Wow, what a balls up.
Apple rapped them over the knuckles for allegedly withholding stock and rightly so. I wonder if this is the result.

possibilities:
1. Airport Express 2.0 with support for video streaming or (Airtunes 2.0)
2. Wireless AppleTV
3. WiMax or 3G integrated with new MacBooks
4. Slingbox to iPhone (as already rumored)
5. Some sort of iTunes integration with in-flight entertainment
6. Super-light MacBooks
Last year was iPhoneWorld so I don't think Jobs will concentrate much on the iPhone this year. I also don't think it is Slingbox because that would mean a product developed by someone other than Apple would take center stage...and that will never happen. A light computer is not really "in the air." Apple is too clever for that to be what they mean. And I don't think this will turn into AppleTVWorld either (although I do expect AppleTV-related announcements).
No...I think the focus will be on the Macintosh at this year's MacWorld. Therefore I vote for #3. Imagine every new MacBook equipped with an AirPort card that can access AT&T's 3G network. No more searching for WiFi spots. You could access the Internet at fast speeds while cruising down the highway! Pretty cool. It would definitely catch the competition off guard.

BREAKEVEN: is 25 MILLIONS TRACKS DOWNLOADED!!!
OUCH!
The Beatles are OLD and HISTORY.
They will NEVER break even on this contract.
They'd BETTER sell an Beatles IPOD, maybe 10 different ones.
They will only breakeven on hardware.
You miss an important point. It is all about branding. I think that both Apples would do very well her thank you very much, but getting the Beatles would be a very huge coup for Apple and online music in general. iTunes and the like are still relatively small compared to CD and other music sales. You may be someone who has been on board for along time, but the HALO effect here would me immense. Sort of the the big increase in MAC users (from PCs) due to iPod sales.

I like them, but I prefer the look of the old ones. The non-cosmetic upgrades are great though, and I'd be more inclined to buy a new one just because of that. That is, unless I can find a cheap one someone's flogging in the Marketplace...:D

I do hope if they are going to up the megapixelage for marketing purposes, they at least give us more memory in the base configuration to handle all the extra space the photos are gonna waste.
Unless of course Sony has secretly created the greatest sensor in the history of the world and the 8MP can be justified. That would be nice.

This is interesting. Quite a long way from the days of 32 MB Mp3 players.
Apple with their success I am sure has long term visions for the iPod as a platform beyond music. In a way it's a new computer platform for them.
They have already pushed iPods into education at the university level (I never got the utility in that), but with eBook functionality the plot thickens. Students could buy all their textbooks from iTunes. In fact, there already are specific iTunes stores for colleges (the one I am familiar with is Stanford). And of course, some iTunes albums already come with PDFs. This could herald true album art along with the entire booklet stored on the iPod.
iPods are ubiquitous. But books are even more ubiquitous. But what could be even more ubiquitous than a book? An iPod that is both and iPod and a book!
They were smart to give it such a generic name (iPod) with as broad of a platform as it is becoming.

I guess it wouldn't make good journalism and rumors to just say Apple will do things based on user experience while other companies want to dominate specs on paper. Things we (consumers) have asked for have been added to the iPhone slowly, but the implementation is better than other devices for the most part.
Good business sense says to leave the iPad alone until next year and (finally) have a level of transparency if you next iPhone doesn't come out until the fall or later. Reason being Apple has a cycle of customers locked into a buying pattern that ensures success for years to come. One thing that could mess things up is to change the pattern now. Of course, when you are one of the big dogs arrogance is an issue and going years with one carrier wasn't the best business move.

I bet this is a preview of what Leopard is gonna look like.
Oh for the love of God I hope not.
Generally the layout is fine, but this thing (iTunes 7) looks absolutely FUGLY!
The scroll bars are a major salute to the XP era of Windows. By OS X standards, it's a quantum leap backwards, not forwards. And the control buttons just look cheap. Again, thats fine for XP - that's what XP users are accustomed to - but it's embarrassingly sub-par for OS X.
I can appreciate the interest in providing standardization across platforms, but these UI element changes, even though they don't impact usage, are completely unnecessary for OS X. This looks like a knock-off port of the Windows version of iTunes and not a native OS X application. The very thing Apple complained to Microsoft about regarding Office around version 6. You could write this sort of thing off if it was a third party app, but Jesus, this is Apple.

Retail stores are free to do what they want as long as they don't advertise under the Apple MSRP. Don't like it? Don't buy....
Apple also doesn't have to sell their products in every store. I am sure Apple could say that they couldn't do that if they want to continue selling the iPad 2. I'd be very surprised if Apple knew about this and allowed it.
My guess is that since managers are pressuring the sales staff to sell the add-ons so hard, that they are just saying its required.

The only thing interesting in the above is the "64". I suspect it doesn't just mean "64 bit Intel chips in the Mac Pro and Xserve", but probably also relates to Leopard. If Leopard does have significant support for 64 bit addressing spaces etc, I wonder if that'll be on both the G5 and the ia64 versions?
BTW, even if I believed that Apple was going to come out with an Apple cellphone (and I don't (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=2674706&postcount=359), I've never seen so many people absolutely convinced of the existance of an unlikely product.), WWDC would unquestionably be a bad place to announce it. If you believe such a thing exists, wait for an appropriate consumer-oriented show or a special event.
Edit: Of course, the "64" could just mean that they're finally going to announce the PowerBook G5!

Yep, get the kiddies hooked on iDevices early. Apple everything, paint their rooms white and let the mind control begin :)

Then how do you turn it off? If it's a feature I should have the option to change it back to how it was. It's pretty annoying and I'm surprised no one else is complaining about it
It's an Apple feature, and Apple said yes (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/18/ipad-2-wife-says-no-but-apple-says-yes/), so you don't get an option :)
As for those people with Verizon iPhone:
I'm pretty sure Verizon got a copy of 4.3.1 and decided not to release it for their customers. It's usually up to the carrier to test and okay any OS on their network. Verizon has always been the slowest in doing so; it's probably a good thing because the OS on their phones are for the most part very solid.

Poorly phrased comments lead to meaningless debate.
Comments about not wanting 3D in the ipad of course lead to the obvious response of those who disagree: "don't use it".
People expressing a desire that the ipad remain 3D free are probably hoping that 3D will be optional if it is added. I don't want 3D myself. But if others want 3D then I hope they get the option. But I do not want to pay extra for a feature I won't use. So if it comes to higher prices and I just "turn it off" then of course from my perspective I hope 3D is not implemented. But the better option would be the option of 3D and non-3D models.

The current camera on the iPhone 4 is stellar IMO and many others... an equal 8MP camera would be even better....
Not necessarily. If the photosites on the sensor are still the same size you will get a worse picture. Higher megapixels != higher quality picture. In most cases they can make pictures worse by adding noise.
Maybe an 8mp bump will work in the iPhone, maybe not. Depends how the image sensor is created and how the lens is. Unfortunately Sony doesn't have the best track record with consumer imaging. I'd be more excited if Canon was making the camera.

This sounds like a new feature for iOS 5. I'm surprised that nothing has leaked out in regards to what iOS 5 has to offer. The rumor is it's supposed to be a major revamp of the OS, but I am really excited to see it in about a month.

Just went to the Best Buy across my street that had the iPad 2 in there deals of the week thingy and they said they would have a ton, went an hour early they don't have any, 10 minutes prior to store opening they don't have any. They said they aren't getting any but you can put $100 down to reserve one to get it by the beginning of May. Fk that, online Apple store it is for the same amount of time. Also target's, toy's r'us, etc don't have any even though they say they do. Just a heads up if you're in a booming city on the east coast.

I would guess that iPhone5 will be duel mode GSM and CMDA... so I would assume the 4G should be able to adapt to either.
That sounds like it makes sense, but does ATT have LTE coverage? or will they by October?
