Those are some really nice specs, I am sorry if this has been answered before but do we know what Core 2 Duo they are? Conroe or Merom

The following is just me personal guesses as too updates to Apples hardware over the next 6 months or so, with a few coming on the 12th and most by the end of the year.
MacBook Pros updated to Core 2 Duos is a no brainer, though I'm not sure if they'd launch it at such and event, but still possible since it is a bit more than speed bump, and you know Steve would want to brag about his new 64-bit PowerBooks.
Also, the iMacs seem to be in the same boat processor wise, though which Core 2 Duo isn't quite as obvious of a choice. If they could fit a G5 in the form factor, it seems reasonable that they could get Conroe in there too, but Merom would let it run cooler. Considering the large gap between the Mac mini and Mac Pro, a 23" iMac would just make sense, unless the much hoped for Conroe based mid tower was released, though that a lot less likely than a 23" iMac, or even a 30" iMac, so don't hold your breath.
MacBooks, don't hold your breath, possibly price drops to get it to $999 again since Yonah prices have come down since launch, but don't expect a Core 2 Duo any time soon. The MacBook is already eating the MacBook Pro's launch due to the similar specs, so the Core 2 is likely to be the MacBook Pro advantage.
Like the MacBook, the Mac mini could see drops back down to G4 levels, and I would discount the Core Duos across the line, but again, don't look for the Core 2 Duo anytime soon.
As for iPods, I would expect the touch screen Video iPod to come out in time for the holiday season, though maybe not on the 12th. The reason being to compete with the Zune and the fact that there finally seems to be a deal about a movie store. As for the regular iPod, probably 40GB and 80GB versions at the current prices, with a slim chance at a 60GB model at $349. As for the nano, probably doubling of storage on all models(2GB, 4GB, 8GB) at the same price points. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1GB nano at around $129 either. As for the shuffle, if it survives, 512MB at $49 and 1GB at around $79 or so.

I think letting consumers decide is stupid. They dont have degrees in technical areas of computing. That's what engineers get paid for, to handle tech stuff. Consumer pays to have technology that works.
Do you even know what you're talking about or is the Apple fanboyism clouding your judgment a bit? Perhaps you require SJ telling what you can and cannot view on your devices, most other people have a mind of their own to decide for themselves.
I don't need a degree in technical areas of computing to know whether or not I want flash content displayed on my screen. Neither does anyone else. What about the billions of computers out there owned by billions of people without such degrees that allow them to view pages properly?

Just an example of a generic office budget ... the City of Toronto has 44 Councillors with an annual office budget of over $50,000 each (most of it used on "useless" crap)
Our new Mayor Rob Ford actually spends $0 every year of his office budget.
lets cut that in half to "reasonable"... all across the country in every city town and county.
Another example is that Mayor in Southern California making over $800,000 per year ... think he is the only one?
We need to weed out this "useless" waste and get back on track ... this kind of Government feeding at the trough is what is bankrupting our countries ... not the Military budgets.
Toronto spent over 1.25 Billion Dollars over a weekend to host that G20 summit ... WTF
and people think shaving a couple of hundred billion on the Military is the big solution.

...the rest of the industry has been mired in a slump reportedly due in no small part to a shift in consumer interest to new media tablets dominated by Apple's iPad.
Over a year ago there were a lot of crazy kooks laughing at me for saying the desktop and laptops were "yesterday's" designs. That people wanted true portability...
There's the proof.
Once the iPad becomes beefy enough to be like a laptop (and it's getting close already), it will take over most of the computer sales. It's perfect in most ways for most people--just needs higher res, more memory, more connectivity, and stronger procession.

good. this should stop all those Waiting For C2D MB threads...
HA!
You know, these statements are becoming the new "Powerbook G5 Next Tuesday". That means really annoying, almost as bad as the "Waiting for Merom Macbook" threads themselves! And it's HILARIOUS! :D
I don't care about a new graphics card, but I do want my Macbook to have as good a battery life as possible. I also want it to be quiet, and cool.
Here's to neat Merom Macbooks Tomorrow!

Are you serious? Maybe you're new here? Apple fans are 2 steps shy of being brainwashed cult members and its no secret to anyone that Apple's hype/marketing department is probably the strongest weapon in their arsenal. They are very adept at pushing their products.
Pretty much can be said about Windows fans, Android fans or RIM fans. I love it when someone throws out the brainwashing argument.
People I know switched to using Macs because they used the product and felt that it was easier to live with then Windows. Just last night my wife was telling me about how one of her co-wokers had bought a first generation iPad for their spouse. They loved it so much they ended up buying the second generation iPad. I guess they were brainwashed into buying the second iPad. User experience had nothing to do with it. The co-worker must have been lying about liking the product, they simply wanted to waste their hard earned money on another iPad because the Apple marketing machine told them to do so. Yes, advertising works thats why it exists. Present your product in an appealing way so that people will know about it, go check it out and possibily but it. There is a reason why Apple has a 14 day return/no stocking fee policy. Ever wondered why the Apple stores are always packed with people trying out the products before they buy it. It is more then wanting to own a "cool" product as you put it.
Are Macs perfect, NO. I switched over to using Macs in 2001 because I felt Apple offered me a better user experience then the alternative. Part of that user experience is how the computers are put together, not looking like some chimp did the work. The other part was how I could unbox he computer, plug it in and I was up and running in a matter of minutes, network setup and all. There are other parts of the user experience like the customer support and how seamless the hardware and software work together. Not to mention the included software at no extra cost. Best of all is not having to worry about the *possibility* of getting a virus or spyware. Notice how I used the word possibility.
And lest I forget, there is the added benefit of how Mac products hold there value over time.

I trust only AppleInsider, not ThinkSecret. What they say goes, as far as I remember. Remember last year's October event?
AppleInsider: There will be a video-capable iPod coming out next week.
ThinkSecret: Actually, there will be no iPod coming out next week.
ThinkSecret: Actually, there will be an 80GB regular iPod coming out next week.
ThinkSecret: Actually, there WILL be a video-capable iPod coming out today <for it was the day of the event by the time they had finally gotten their facts straight.>
Some of ThinkSecret's dirt matches AI's. This will come to pass. Everything else will not necessarily happen.

It doesn't matter...the new nanos wouldn't qualify for the promotion.
Same thing happend last year...the nanos were released before the free iPod mini promo ended.
But if they release the new nano's at the same price as the previous ones, I don't see a reason why they wouldn't include those same priced nano's in the promotion. If they're more expensive, they'll treat it as the other iPods in the promotion--you just have make up the rest of the cost.

I think that is Not the new MBP day, 'cause they should change the MAC page on apple site too, but instead, this page it's always showing the old MBP.
I think it's only the iPad pre-order day. :(

Well, I'm certainly glad you're not letting blind partisanship guide your thinking... Oy.
Never thought i would hear a republican say "illegal war". If this was a republican president, i think dime would be singing a different tune. If a democrat takes military action, suddenly the republicans become hippies.

OK, but can they transmit directly to the receiver in my tooth?

I think in the end, if the iPhone 5 arrives around October I expect to have the following features:
1) Will look like an 4G iPod touch but thicker to accommodate larger battery, cellphone circuitry, cellphone antenna and the five-megapixel back image sensor.
2) Display will be 4.0" (diagonal) IPS LCD touchscreen.
3) Will use A5 CPU/GPU with 512 MB of RAM, though 1 GB of RAM is possible.
4) Flash memory storage in 16, 32 and 64 GB capacities.
5) Will use next-generation Qualcomm or Broadcom cellphone chipset that supports GSM, CDMA or LTE. Will include micro SIM slot for GSM usage.
6) Antenna will be completely redesigned to avoid potential "dead spots" when held in a certain manner.
7) Will include for first time near-field communications (NFC) communications capability, and will likely support the Sony-developed FeliCa NFC standard so it can be easily used in Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong.
8) Will use iOS 5.0, which will come out the same time as the iPhone 5.

Good replies, Nipsy. Although you completely misunderstood some of my points addressed some points that i wasn't even talking about and also made some points that i completely disagree with.
I might make a proper reply addressing these tomorrow, if:
A. I have the time.
B. I can be bothered.
Oh and i'm well over 18, have a very high IQ and a masters degree. :) That doesn't make me any more likely to be right or wrong than you, i'm just saying, seeing as you made some delightful comments about 13 and under 18 year olds in your aforementioned post.
If you guys don't mind Apple being behind in hardware, then, quite honestly, stop whining about it.
So many Mac users spend hours a day, talking about Apple and what they're doing wrong, but never take any action. If those who care about Apple being the slowest computers on the market are not going to do something about it, then they should shut up about it.
If you're going to whine about it constantly and then get upset with someone who says it's not good enough, then you're just a stupid hypocrit. I realize that you're happy with the productivity your Mac(s) has brought you, and are incredibly loyal to Apple, as well you should be, but if you're going to complain about it, then at least make some attempt to do something about it. or shut up about it.

Possibly... Imagine red MB.. Or perhaps the pink one like PSP .. On second thought, ewww

The iPod touch is quite thin already.. moving some parts around and adding a hard drive in it could make it about as thick as the iPhone but with the capacity of a Mac.. just think of the possibilities..
Reminds me about the Palm LifeDrive.. it's about time a modern device takes it over.
As a couple stated on this page and I brought up several pages ago, a HDD based touch is something you won't see, based on the HDs latency and speed issues.

Personally I haven't listened to them much in years, and last month did a retrospective of their stuff (http://www.geardiary.com/2010/11/09/music-diary-retrospective-a-magical-mystery-tour-of-the-beatles-catalog/)... it was interesting since most of my memory comes from the original US LP's my brother owned.
I really don't listen to much pop music ... I mention Pat Metheny as it is about as close to mainstream stuff as I get. So for me they aren't so tired ... certainly less so than the Eminem my older son listens to so much ...
I worded my original poorly, I was speaking of influence and being derivative ... Zepplin is a great example, as whether or not they were good, they were heavily influenced by the Beatles, Who, Jeff Beck group, and so on ... and it shows heavily in their work.
That's cool. I knew what you were getting at.
I've recently rediscovered "Abbey Road", which I've been playing a lot of (mostly starting with track 6 and playing to the "The End"). It really is timeless and reminds me of many other bands.

Sweet! I have a shortage of my favorite Beatles songs on my iPod. Most of my Beatles CDs had at least one scratch that prevented proper ripping into iTunes.
Apple, you have that fixed in iTunes yet? I'd like to see the Cancel button actually work and also the ability to selectively rip or bypass any one song I want to on my disk.
What are you talking about? For starters you don't have to rip an entire album, duh!
Also if a disc is scratched, try this before you abandon ripping it, go into Advanced; choose Importing; check off Using error correction when reading Audio CDs. This will slow the import, but all CDs have redundancy build in, which allows for scratched discs to work.
