I don't get people who avoid important updates.Perhaps you've never been burned by one. I have. There's nothing worse than immediately downloading an update, then suddenly finding that a whole lot of things are broken that worked perfectly well before. Then you go to Macfixit and find reams of posts from other people in the same boat. Being wary of Rev A models doesn't only apply to hardware...

So I could buy photoshop... and use it WHEN I need to for $35 a month? Like I could buy it, use it only once and only pay $35? that's pretty cool.

And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!
I doubt all those whining about $5 for Xcode 4 are attending the Developers Conference.

Why on earth does it make any sense to discuss the high likelihood of blacks (as opposed to whites) to get charged when we don't know the respective likelihood of committing the crime? As far as I can see, there is nothing that supports your theory about the statistics making things look worse than reality.
Charging decisions are made by people, including police and prosecutors. A discussion about the likelihood of committing a crime is only about claims about racial differences. I'm not aware of any legitimate study that any race is more or less likely to commit crimes.
Yes, I know that some places (e.g. Texas), black people are provided with retarded attourneys who show up intoxicated in court - if showing up at all. As a former public defender I will respond on behalf of all the court appointed attornies out there. Bite me. You have no clue what you are talking about. If I ever need a criminal defense attorney, my first call will be to the local public defender. If they have time, they are the best person to hire. If not, they know better than anyone who to hire and what to expect.

Any updates from Corvus anyone?
My wife and I are both alive and well, we only just got electricity back about an hour or so ago. Worst 4 days of our lives, but we got off lucky. Others lost everything, including themselves.
I appreciate all of your nice comments. But again, aside from power loss, my family and I are fine.
Let's keep an eye out for CorvusCamenarum, though. I'm genuinely concerned about anyone who was logged into macrumors (in other words, sitting at their computer) in Tuscaloosa at 5:00 yesterday and not in a basement or shelter.
It's a MBP on wireless internet. When it hit, I was hunkered in the interior bathroom with it, the cell phone, a flashlight and two very upset cats.

Oh, I could sooooo say something here, but it would probably be considered a racist flame-bait, so I'll just steer clear of it.
But I would say that it won't be me needing that particular feature...
*mumbles something to self about this being an English-speaking country and runs out of the thread*
You probably would. I think Spanish is the world's 2nd-most spoken language. Well, don't know about Chinese... Besides, you are being America-centric here, there are markets outside the US, you know, like Spain. Reference works like Dictionaries and Thesauruses will probably be bestsellers for such a device. If I go somewhere, I could load it with a dictionary for the national language for the country, say English-Spanish. My Spanish is not good, so if it could pronounce it for me, all the better. And I know of English speakers who can't read or spell very well either. My brother's dyslexic, and yet also a programmer. The Spanish were the first to discover and explore America, you know (though 500 years after the Vikings). In Canada they're split between English and French. They're like Americans without the attitude or penchant for invading other countries.

I am assuming that Apple has not spent any effort on making Flash run smoothly on Os X, but honestly its been almost 4 years since Adobe bought Macromedia and they still can't be bothered to make it run right? Really? And how long did it take for Microsoft to make a better performing Flash replacement (silverlight) for a competing Os no less. Well jeeze no fracking wonder why Apple has had enough and refuses to budge on Flash for iPhone. If you were in Apples shoes would you trust Adobe to give you a well coded port of Flash that didn't turn the iphone into battery sucking, testicle roasting hot plate?
I installed an early beta of Windows 7 (about 5-6 months from the GM) and was stunned that even then flash ran better then in Leopard. This tells me that Adobe is spending all their time on optimization for windows, obviously their largest market. And that is understandable but their arrogance in not bothering to ever give mac users a better product is pissing me off. So I have and will continue to use it as little as possible until Adobe shows us mac users some respect.

If they build it from scratch, they could probably design the place with working conditions that don't make people as suicidal (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1104449&referrerid=51132).
Get off your holier-than-thou hobby horse. Your attempt at social comment is ludicrous and stupid. If you think so badly of Apple and its suppliers then sell your Apple products (if you even own any) and try to find something not made in the exact same factories by Foxconn.

I am NOT into "talkies" - I think they are called "movies" now? But what excites me, especially as an AAPL investor (mostly at $4/share) is the vision of iSteve and his team. Movies purchased from the iTunes Store can't be burned to a DVD or VCD that will play in a DVD player or Video CD.
No kidding. It's been like that for a year, old news.
Pretty disappointing, although I was the ONLY PERSON on macrumors and apple insider to call the LAME GAME update, which doesn't even work on the current 5G iPOD Video (at least this is what I read somewhere earlier today).
It does. The new iPod is just a size bump of the 5G, the new features are just software updates.

If it's anything like the Whitebook I bought about 2.5 yrs ago, the plastic is coming off in chunks on the palm wrest. Mine (now a hand-me-down to my partner) is on its second palm wrest, and has already shed the same pieces.
my original core duo is begging me to take it out back and put it out of its misery. So glad I bought applecare with all the replacements. Poor girl has trouble running internet video now :(

Well, this is one of those areas where we disagree on the historical evidence and the interpretation. I don't see evidence in the old testament that would support the view that it was written to support polytheism or that it was a re-writing of polytheistic accounts with the goal of popularizing monotheism. The god El was the chief of the elohim in Canaan. He is mentioned by name in the Old Testament. Several kings and patriarchs named their sons after him. The "War in Heaven", of course, is the "historical" account of El casting down all the other gods, and establishing his own primacy. The other elohim were retained in the form of angels. Notice how many angels' names end in "-el"?
Sure, there is description of the polytheistic cultures of the Canaanite people, the Egyptians, and other people of that time, but the overarching story of God's revelation to man is unified starting with God's establishment of the covenant with Abraham. El's covenant with Abraham.
Now, God's people were not always faithful to him. In fact the entire story of the nation of Israel is one of God attempting to unify his chosen people and their repeated failure to be consistently true to him. Even King Solomon who built the temple, fell away later in life, as he become open to idol worship.Revisionism. The story of the Old Testament is a story of a couple of polytheistic nations. The prophets are constantly bemoaning the polytheism of the people. Those which did not bemoan it were presumably not included in the canon.
You must remember that the Bible reveals God to be triune, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The "mystery" of the trinity has been debated, but scripture both, old and new testament, point to this fact and thus there are times when the original languages are in singular tense and there are also times when the original languages are in plural tense. This is not true. There is no specific assertion in the Old Testament of any triune nature of god. Of course, when El casts Baal out of heaven and he becomes Satan, he is banishing his own son, leaving the stage conveniently clear for You-Know-Who...

Why so many negatives, I love 3D stuff when it's done correctly. Lots of fun in my opinion. Though I really doubt Apple would put a 3D screen on the iPad.
Agreed - it's for fun, but not all fun. 3D has its place, just not on the iPad.

It's true that a high megapixel count is not anything like the most important factor about a camera, but everything else being equal more megapixels is better than fewer megapixels. I seriously doubt Apple is going to add megapixels just for the number on the specs list.
Why are you comparing the users? A good comparison would be the same user (good or bad) using different cameras/mobiles to take photographs.
I don't understand your argument.
I think the point is that the technical specs of a photo, and the camera it was taken on, can't make a badly lit, poorly composed photo a good one, and (within reason) can't totally destroy the work of a good photographer who knows what they are doing but only had access to a 'lesser' camera.
Another way of looking at it might be that Leonardo da Vinci could do more impressive work with a pencil and paper than many people could do with a studio full of photoshop artists.
